You had the tests.
Now understand
the next step.

A CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray or lab result can leave you with more questions. We review available ER reports, connect findings with your symptoms and discuss what follow-up makes clinical sense.

What does this finding mean for me?

A scan report is one part of your care. We consider the report, your symptoms, the ER evaluation and your discharge instructions together.

Understand the report

Talk through the findings, medical terms, recommended follow-up and questions the ER visit left unanswered. Bring the final report if you have it.

Review incidental findings

An unexpected finding may need comparison with prior tests, repeat testing, a specialist or ongoing monitoring. The clinician helps clarify the appropriate next step and timing.

Address ongoing symptoms

Review how you feel now and whether your symptoms change the follow-up plan. A previously reassuring test does not replace evaluation of new or worsening symptoms.

The right test for the right reason.

Repeat or follow-up imaging

X-ray, ultrasound, CT or MRI may be ordered when the clinician determines it is appropriate. We consider your prior findings, symptoms and the ER recommendations. Imaging is arranged through appropriate facilities; it is not automatically included in the visit.

Repeat labs and referrals

Laboratory testing or specialist evaluation may be appropriate to clarify a finding or monitor treatment. Orders depend on your assessment, record availability and any insurance requirements.

Tests are not ordered solely on request. Insurance authorization, facility scheduling and separate charges may apply. Follow Up Dr. cannot promise a same-day test, a particular diagnosis or a specialist appointment.

Helpful records

Please upload a photo or screenshot of your ER discharge paperwork through the secure intake link we provide. Include final imaging reports, lab results, your current medication list and prior comparison reports if available.

Helpful questions

What did the ER tell you? What is still unclear? Were you told to repeat a test or see a specialist? Have your symptoms changed? Write down the questions you want the clinician to address.

A report review is not a new radiologist interpretation of scan images. Original images or additional records may be requested when needed. Missing paperwork is not an automatic barrier.

Unstable or having an emergency? Go back to the ER. For chest pain, severe trouble breathing, stroke symptoms, uncontrolled bleeding, or another medical emergency, call 911. Follow your ER return precautions. Do not wait for a follow-up visit or a reply to a request.

Before your follow-up.

Can you review my CT or MRI by telemedicine?

Often, report review can start by video when clinically appropriate. A physical exam or in-person evaluation may still be needed. The team confirms the appropriate format before scheduling.

Will you order another CT, MRI, X-ray or ultrasound?

Only when clinically appropriate after evaluation. Prior records, insurance authorization and facility scheduling may affect the plan. Repeat imaging is not guaranteed or included in the cash visit fee.

What if the report says I need urgent follow-up?

Follow the ER team’s instructions and the timeframe they gave you. Do not wait for our 72-hour visit goal when urgent assessment is recommended. For a medical emergency, call 911 or return to the ER.

Are incidental findings always serious?

Their significance varies. The clinician reviews the specific finding, your history and the recommendations in your report. Some findings require additional evaluation or monitoring; others may not.
