YOUR PROCEDURE JOURNEY

01

Harvest

Collect fat from a suitable donor area as part of an agreed procedure plan.

02

Prepare

Prepare the collected tissue for transfer using the selected clinical technique.

03

Transfer

Place fat into the planned recipient area, with follow-up to assess healing and retention.

What is fat transfer?

Fat transfer, also called fat grafting, moves a patient’s own fat from a donor area to an area where additional volume is desired. BeautiFill by Alma combines laser-assisted harvesting, suction, and processing within its system.

The device supports part of the procedure. Placement technique, treatment area, your health, and aftercare also influence safety and results.

Plan the donor and recipient areas together.

Your consultation considers available donor fat, tissue quality, your goals, medical history, and prior procedures. Dr. Milanes will explain which treatment areas are appropriate for your situation.

Having fat available does not automatically make someone a candidate. Discuss alternatives, the amount of change that is realistic, and whether staged treatment may be appropriate.

Understand fat retention and recovery.

Some transferred fat may be reabsorbed. Final volume and symmetry vary, and additional treatment may be considered. Laboratory measures of harvested-cell viability do not guarantee the amount of volume retained in a patient.

Recovery involves both the donor and recipient areas. Ask about swelling, bruising, pressure restrictions, activity, and follow-up specific to your procedure.

Discuss the risks before deciding.

Risks include infection, bleeding, uneven contours, fat necrosis, and loss of transferred volume. Rare serious complications, including fat embolism, can occur; risks depend on the area and technique.

Get an individual consent discussion and written estimate. Ask what is included, what follow-up is planned, and how to contact the procedure team. Procedures are offered in Mission Viejo.

Questions before your consultation.

Is fat transfer the same as liposuction?

No. Liposuction removes fat; transfer adds a separate step to place collected fat elsewhere. The procedures may be planned together when appropriate.

Is every transferred fat cell permanent?

No. Retention varies, some fat may be reabsorbed, and future weight changes can affect appearance. No specific retention percentage is guaranteed.

Can I choose the treatment area online?

Tell us your goals, then confirm suitability and the treatment plan during a clinical consultation. Online information cannot establish candidacy.
