START WITH ANSWERS

Could low testosterone be part of the picture?

Reduced libido, fewer spontaneous erections, low energy, or changes in muscle mass can be reasons to seek an assessment. These symptoms can also have other causes, including sleep problems, medications, or other health conditions.

01

Discuss your symptoms

Tell us what has changed, how long it has been happening, and how it affects everyday life.

02

Look beyond one number

Diagnosis depends on symptoms and consistently low testosterone—not a single result alone.

03

Consider the whole picture

Review your medical history, sleep, medications, and plans for having children before choosing treatment.

HOW IT WORKS

Four steps to informed care.

01

Consultation

Start with an in-person visit or ask about telehealth eligibility in California. Discuss your concerns, health history, and goals.

02

Lab testing

Your clinician orders appropriate testing and can discuss Quest or Labcorp options. Confirm collection instructions and lab charges before testing. Assessment generally includes repeat early-morning testosterone measurements.

03

Your treatment plan

Review your results and options. If TRT is appropriate and prescribed, discuss the formulation, administration, expected benefits, risks, and costs. Injection plans may involve training for home use or office visits.

04

Ongoing follow-up

Review symptoms, treatment response, laboratory results, and side effects. Your clinician determines when to adjust, continue, or stop treatment.

A consultation or lab order does not guarantee a prescription. Any medication delivery depends on a valid prescription, the dispensing pharmacy, and patient eligibility.

What might treatment improve?

For men with confirmed testosterone deficiency, treatment may improve symptoms such as reduced sexual desire. Benefits and their timing vary. We’ll discuss what is realistic for your health situation and track whether treatment is helping.

TRT is not a general solution for fatigue, weight loss, or athletic performance. Identifying the cause of your symptoms comes first.

Monitoring is part of treatment.

Follow-up can include testosterone levels, blood count or hematocrit, blood pressure, symptom response, and prostate-related assessment when appropriate. Your clinician sets the schedule and reviews the risks of the specific product prescribed.

01

Discuss fertility first

Testosterone therapy can suppress sperm production. Tell your clinician if you want children now or in the future so you can discuss suitable options.

02

Review your health history

Sleep apnea, elevated red blood cell counts, prostate or breast conditions, and cardiovascular history can affect whether treatment is appropriate.

03

Know the possible effects

Risks can include acne, fluid retention, increased red blood cell counts, and increased blood pressure. Some products have additional risks or handling precautions.

TWO WAYS TO PLAN YOUR CARE

Insurance first. Cash-pay options, too.

01

Use your insurance

Insurance may cover your evaluation, lab testing, and prescribed testosterone treatment when plan requirements and medical-necessity criteria are met. Ask our team to check your plan and whether we participate before your visit.

Coverage may differ for office visits, the laboratory, and the pharmacy. Prior authorization, deductibles, copays, or coinsurance may apply. Verification is not a guarantee of payment.

02

Self-pay visits. Separate pharmacy payment.

If you prefer self-pay or your plan does not cover your visits, you pay AM&A for the consultation and follow-up visits. Ask for current visit fees before deciding.

Prescribed medication is not included in your visit fee. You pay the dispensing pharmacy directly for medication. Laboratory testing, supplies, and pharmacy delivery may have separate charges; confirm these with the relevant provider.

Before you get started.

How much does the program cost?

Ask about insurance coverage or current self-pay consultation and follow-up visit fees. For self-pay visits, you pay AM&A for your medical visits and the dispensing pharmacy directly for prescribed medication. Medication is not included in the visit fee. Laboratory testing may have separate charges.

Can I start through telehealth?

Ask about consultation availability while you are in California. Your clinician will determine whether telehealth is appropriate and whether an in-person examination or additional testing is needed. Prescribing requirements still apply.

Will my medication be shipped to me?

For eligible patients with a valid prescription, the dispensing pharmacy can explain pickup or delivery options. You pay the pharmacy directly for medication and any applicable pharmacy supply or shipping charges. Confirm prices, refill arrangements, and delivery terms with the pharmacy.

How soon will I notice a difference?

Response varies by symptom and treatment. Follow-up helps determine whether there is meaningful improvement; benefits are not guaranteed on a fixed timeline.

Is TRT safe for everyone?

No. Treatment requires an individual assessment and ongoing monitoring. Your medical history, fertility plans, lab results, and the chosen product all matter.

Can I use insurance or HSA/FSA funds?

Insurance may cover eligible care, subject to your plan’s requirements. HSA/FSA eligibility is separate; check with your benefits administrator before using those funds. Coverage and reimbursement are not guaranteed.
